Toyota cleans up at the AA DRIVEN New Zealand Car of the Year Awards

The 2021 AA Driven New Zealand Car of the year awards saw 4 Toyota models scoop 5 of the top awards as well as the coveted top prize, the AA DRIVEN New Zealand Car of the Year with its compact, fast, and clean GR Yaris model.
The Toyota RAV4 wins the Best Medium SUV and takes out the Clean & Green award with its Hybrid model. Many of the Rav4’s advanced safety and tech features helped it to nudge ahead of its competitors for these awards, but the Hybrid electric and combustion engine really sealed the deal for the judges.
The judges had lots to say about the new Toyota Hilux, but they found it hard to fault the safety package, with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) as standard right across the range meaning this power packed truck won the Best Light Commercial Vehicle in the awards.
The Yaris Cross captures all that’s needed for New Zealand’s compact SUV market and saw it awarded the Best Small SUV for 2021.
And while the GR Yaris is one of the smaller models in the Toyota line up and one of the smaller hot hatches in the market it’s packed with more technology and more driving enjoyment which contributed to it taking out the Best Sports / Performance car category too!
